On July 21st Ambassador Beats and 1st Class will be dropping the highly anticipated Hip Hop meets Dubstep mixtape titled- ’21 Dub Street’. As we already know Illa Scorsese has been raping and pillaging track after track for the upcoming album and he never ceases to amaze us with his diversity, wordplay, and the overall calibre of his productions. Whether he’s writing for some chilled out hip hop or grimey dubstep you know he brings 110% to every single track. And trust us, this will all become clear to you in 3 weeks time.
But until then, check out the latest leak off the mixtape which was featured on one of Windsor/Detroit’s finest radio stations-CJAM 99.1 FM. And to top it off, our good friends Dj Victory and J.C of ‘Real Talk Hip Hop’ hosted the world premiere.
Adventure Club released another FREE dubstep gem for us that has all the components of a perfect track. Flawless progression, soothing vocals and the drop is spot on. Not much more that needs to be said just throw this one on and head over to their Soundcloud page for lots more.
Flight Facilities- Crave You (Adventure Club Dubstep Remix)
Swedish House Mafia are currently holding down a residency in Ibiza for the summer and there is no doubt in my mind that even these guys are sick of hearing this track. The original ‘Save The World’ officially came out a few weeks ago and instantly gained international attention and mass appeal. It’s been played so many times on my Itunes that my girlfriend has literally threatened to punch me square in the face if she hears it one more time.
Luckily for us we have had guys like David Berrie and Alesso to help us save face and to keep this song alive and today I am happy to pass on 2 MORE remixes to rekindle your love, or possibly hatred.
#1: Cazzette diverts from the house music to deliver a much needed dubstep treatment. These guys should be on your radar as they are on the At Night Management roster alongside Avicii and Tom Hangs and deliver a unique blend of electro/house/dubstep… oh and there Swedish if that means anything.
We’ve been talking about this hip hop meets dubstep mixtape for awhile now and today we have another teaser to show you that we mean business.
Illa jumps on Zeds Dead’s breakout track- ‘Rude Boy’ and delivers a hard hitting knuckle sandwich laced with heart pounding bass. If you needed any more convincing that Illa Scorsese can spit with the best of them, throw this on and hold tight for the official release of 21 Dub St. which drops July 21st exclusively on Ambassador Beats.
While you’re at it, download Illa’s latest album- ‘Illavation‘ and check out the other two releases from 21 Dub St. below including an original production from the rising Toronto based producer- Paul David. And if you have a minute head over to hype machine and heart this track!
Today I will officially be a graduate from the University of Windsor and will leave with a Masters degree in Social Work. With that being said, I don’t see my recent transition from student to professional changing my life all that much. I will still party, live on a budget, eat 5 cent candies and slushies from 7/11 and most importantly, I will continue to bring you quality electronic music on a steady basis.
For anyone out there taking the plunge into the ‘real world’, throw on this track and keep living the dream.
A couple years ago Four Year Strong released Explains It All, a full album of cover tunes that literally explains them all. It had everything from Smashing Pumpkins to Sugar Ray and everything inbetween. It remained on repeat with me for a long time until I left my copy in my friend Will’s car. He texted me two weeks later telling me that he fucking loved the CD I left.
Move forward to 2011 and For Year Strong have just released an acoustic video of Alan and Dan covering the TLC classic No Scrubs. I hope this leads to Explains It All Part 2, but I highly doubt it. What it does mean is that Four Year Strong are in the studio again which is an excellent sign. Check out the video above and go get Explains It All, it will be the best decision you make this week.
Bon Iver is back with a brand new self-titled album and the video for the first single Calgary dropped yesterday. Canadian Sportscentre anchor Jay Onrait says this is the song of the summer so I won’t go against him there as he has never lead me astray. Check out the video above and if you like what you hear go grab the album, it really is amazing.
The Arcade Fire have been canadian Indie gods for the past couple years but 2011 has them on top once again. They have won Grammys and Junos but their most impressive achievement might be their contribution to Haiti.
Fucked Up lead singer Damian Abraham recently spent some time with Arcade Fire and filmed a 30 minute mini-doc entitled The Wedge Presents Arcade Fire. In a three part special Damian dives into several topics for an in-depth look at what makes Arcade Fire special.
If you have 30 minutes you should click here to head to the Much Music website and watch this documentary, you’ll be glad you did.
If you haven’t picked up a copy of Jay-Z’s Decoded you are missing it. I have it but am just trying to get through Tucker Max’s latest book before I start on Decoded. But this video has definitely peaked my interest again. Jay-Z talks here about the great song writers and how they compare to some of the best poets. Its a different way of looking at rap music for something more than just party music, and another reason why Jay-Z is still the King and the greatest rapper alive.
We throw around the label ‘summer tunes’ quite a bit here and today I am happy to throw another one your way. Dankann sprinkles some of his signature summer vibe touch on the Jose Amnesia’s already classic track. For maximum listening pleasure add cold beverages and a sunny day.
Finding good quality music has been like pulling teeth over the past few weeks, but thankfully we have Kid Massive and Roger Sanchez to carry us through these hard times.
I made some bold statements about Kid Massive’s new track ‘A Little Louder’ and although it may not be THE track of summer, I am standing by its unquestionable ability to destroy dance floors, top international music charts and forcibly take over your Itunes most played list. Last week we gave you the bassjackers remix and today I am going to sweeten the pot with the Muzzaik Remix. This is my favourite remix of the bunch as it brings a perfectly crafted tech house spin which builds momentum for 3 minutes until Peyton tells us to turn it up a little louder… we are teased for another minute until the beat finally drops again at the 5 minute mark. This track is not for the inpatient listener so if big buildups are your thing than fuckin turn this upppp.
If you haven’t already grabbed the original, buy it as well as the remix package from beatport.
The second standout track that needs to be shared is the Bobby Burns remix of Roger Sanchez’s new heater- ‘Worldwide’. This is the perfect start to your set as it has all the elements of a big room party starter including the chant like vocals, dirty dutch synths and a driving bassline. You can buy the original here and PLEASE download both of these tracks to get you through the weekend!
Headbangers get ready for something new. The Air I Breathe released a brand new LP today entitled Great Faith In Fools and it has me ready to find a mosh pit and unleash some fury.
Great Faith In Fools is being released on Velocity and Rise Records and if you like what you hear you can find The Air I Breathe on tour in a town near you this summer. They are featured on the Scream Like You Mean It Tour which also will have Breathe Carolina, Chiodos, I See Stars, Tek-One and The Color Morale.
The album is filled with running guitar lines and mosh-pit worthy break downs. I especially liked Desolate and Disowned as well as The Life They Promised.
We have to give a big shout out to Ambassador Beats favourite I The Mighty today. They have officially signed to Equal Vision Records and have a new EP coming out this fall. I The Mighty were one of the first bands to reach out to Ambassador Beats and thank us for featuring their music on our blog so it feels great to hear that they got picked up by Equal Vision. I can’t wait to hear the new EP and new material in the next year. Congrats to them.
The Swellers are set to release their 5th full length LP Good For Me a week from today, but to satisfy the needs of their fans, they have decided to stream the entire new album on their facebook page.
Their 2009 release Ups and Downsizing really put The Swellers on the map and we should expect great things from Good For Me. I highly recommend heading over to The Swellers facebook page and checking the album out early. If you like it, go get it next tuesday.
While were on this rap kick we can’t NOT rep an up and comer that is within a stones throw of our home base. Fowl, if you didn’t already know has been on the grind putting out mixtapes and music videos since his domination of the Red Bull Freestyle competition. His latest effort is compiled into a 15 track mixtape covering all ends of the spectrum from living in the ghettos to haters to spreading the good vibes worldwide. If you’re into the underground hip hop scene or just straight up quality rap music then ‘Good Vibes’ is for you.
It’s time to put on your favorite pair of kicks and listen to the brand new Return Of The Sneaker Heads Mixtape. I’ve got my Famous Stars and Straps kicks on right now to prove my Sneaker Head Status
This brand new mixtape features music from the likes of Illa Scorsese, Brandon NameBrand Bass, Roland Lamont Bland, Fatt Dezzy and Junnie Mac just to name a few.
Now remember, it’s not worth killing someone for stepping on your Jordans, because Mr. Clean Magic Erasers work wonders, but if someone does disrespect your kicks then you need to remind them who is king. Check out F.L.I.M.C. below along with the download link.
F.L.I.M.C. – Fat Dezzy, Illa Scorsese, C Gillie, & Lew Giles
When I think of summer music two names quickly come to mind…Tom Fall and Dezza. If you haven’t heard of either keep reading and thank me later. They live on opposite ends of the globe but I grouped them together because they both have a way of tantalizing your ear drums with silky smooth and euphoric progressive house music. If soft synths, dreamy vocals and 128 bpm floats your boat, then consider these guys the water under the bridge… or something like that.
To start you off here are my favourite tracks from each artist. Sitting at 10 minutes long ‘HEFTY’ may be my favourite track of the year and brings out the harder electro and trance side from Dezza. It has garnered support from everyone including Tiesto and Armin Van Buuren. ‘Stillness’ is the perfect starter for a Tom Fall set and is the definition of a summer house banger.
Also, preview the Dezza remix to Tom Fall’s standout track ‘Voices’ and if are up for supporting good music and spending $4 then buy these immediately!
