Dub guru Skream dropped this FREE track on his Soundcloud today. A progressive dubstep buildup with an epic breaks finish that has a very similar style to his remixes for La Roux and Alex Clare. Pick it up below and bump it loud.
As the weather begins to darken you may notice my tastes in posts follow suit. Today as I watch the rain ruin my friday afternoon festivities I couldn’t think of a better soundtrack to match the mood. Skream delivers a hard hitting breakbeat remix to Alex Clare’s release on Universal Island Records. The slow buildup and late drop is reminiscent of his La Roux- In For The Kill remix and both give some life to the seemingly non-existent breakbeat genre.
You can buy the original and Nadastrom remix here.
This is apparently new Xaphoon Jones stuff but I really don’t know anything about it. Xaphoon retweeted something from @adamitkoff saying that this is an exclusive BRKFST Radio Episode 1. Other than that all I really know is that there is 69 minutes of music that has been mashed up and mixed together and it sounds outstanding.
You need to download this for yourself to really understand the greatness. Stream and download BRKFST Radio Episode 1 Elie’s Kitchen below and find out what it is for yourself.

This one is brand new (to the best of my knowledge), so get it while it is hot. Brand new Netsky remix of Rusko’s Everyday track. This song has everything, and I mean everything. Hospital Records has another banger on their hands.
Back in January Shad and Dallas released their Two Song Ep which featured Live Forever and the Listen Remix. Fast forward seven months and the duo are back with the Live Forever Remix EP.
This EP stems from a contest Shad and Dallas held a few months ago asking for people to take their Live Forever track and give a personal spin to it. Four remixes rose the ranks and made the exclusive EP.
You can buy this EP on iTunes, its definitely worth it. To get a taste of what is on the EP, check out the Kitchen Party and Joose remixes below.

I wasn’t blogging back in 09′ but if I was this would have been on my Best Albums of the Year list. This is the first and only studio album from Sub Focus and it will be a hard one to top. The album has a great blend of breakbeat, dubstep, liquid and jump up drum & bass and is a perfect warmup for anyone interested in expanding their musical tastes. Since the album Sub Focus has worked with the likes of Pendulum, Example and Chase & Status and the future looks very bright for this young chap out of the UK. Keep an eye out for future releases on Andy C’s highly acclaimed Ram Records and grab this album from Beatport or your local record store- You will not be disappointed!

First off, both these tracks were not released in 2010, but I do have justification for this. Breakbeat has been in a steady decline since the rave scene of the early 90’s and has become synonymous alongside Drum and Bass and Dubstep. As of late, artists who typically produce jungle, dnb and dubstep are using breakbeats throughout their productions. Case in point, Skream’s remix to the popular track from La Roux. This track has been huge for breaks and was even featured on an episode of Entourage this year. With acts like Magnetic Man, Sub Focus and Nero all crossing over between these sub-genres of electronic music, we can only expect breakbeat to make its way back into the limelight.
Big giveaway here from UK breaks/dubstep/electro label Funkatech. Take a seat for another instalment of the finest in electronic music courtesy of your trusted conductor. We will be exploring some tech, progressive and electro house, dubstep and mashups on this weeks journey.
I have blogged about the supergroup consisting of Artwork, Benga and Skream before but in case you missed it here we go again. These guys are going to swallow the dubstep/breaks/dnb scene, chew it up, and spit it out in one swift jaw dropping motion. Here are two tracks off the upcoming album which you can pre-order HERE or wait for the official release on October 11th.
As the boundaries and genres of music continue to evolve and blend, one thing remains constant- classic tunes of yester-year can always be improved through what we like to call ‘The Remix’. Electronic music breathes new life into old, over-played and forgotten tunes. To provide an example to this rant take the track ‘Cold As Ice’ from Foreigner which was released in 1977. Specimen A has taken this record, brushed the dust off and injected a well needed dose of bass, wobble and energy to give it a drastic new feeling. Now you may be asking yourself, who the f*ck is Specimen A?
Specimen A are brothers Phil and Mo Jones alongside DJ Dan Smart. Producers of heavy fuelled breaks, drum & bass and everything in between they were raised on a broad diet of inspiring music from classical to rave.
This is the first time we have posted on Specimen A but you can be rest assured that it wont be the last. Check out their soundcloud HERE and their label Funkatech Records HERE. Stay tuned for the release of ‘Chasing Shadows’ which you can preview below.
Another massive instalment of tunes here covering all bases of electronic music. This is your conductor speaking and I promise to take you on another unforgettable journey through the mountains of House music, deep into the valley of Mashups, Dirty Dutch, Trance and lastly, through the depths of the Dubstep world. Buckle up…
There has been a lot of buzz surrounding a new ‘supergroup’ consisting of Skream, Benga & Artwork. If you have been a little slow on the uptake, like myself, get familiar quick with this video of the track Perfect Stranger being performed at Parklife 2010 in Manchester. The trio from the UK mesh together dubstep, drum & bass and breaks to form some innovative and fresh electronic beats which has been labeled ‘vocal dubstep’. Grab this track below and get excited for the album which drops October 4th.
