Last Night (Afrojack Remix)

28 Feb

Ahhhh yess i’ve been waiting for this full quality version to drop and today is the day! Afrojack manages to make the Ian Carey x Snoop Dogg collaboration work with a little bit of dutch flavour. If you’re turned off from the stereotypical dutch house/repetitive high pitch bleepy synths business, then you will be satisfied with the lower/bassier sound of this one. Buy the original ‘Last Night’

New Lung Filler Records EP!

26 Feb

DivKid dropped this little beauty in our inbox and I am liking this progressive house direction that is going on in the Lung Filler Records outfit. Check out what they had to say about the new EP and grab yourself a copy!

The Eat My Machine EP will be the 15th release for UK label Lung Filler Records. It also sees Jedeye back with the label, after previous remixes for us last year. The EP features the original electro-house track, along with an old school house / early rave style remix from Cut La Roc, DivKid stirring up new melodies in his progressive/electro remix, and a dark stripped back techno remix from Jey Pee Razz

The original track starts with an infectious groove and hook from the main resonant synth, heavily swung bass hits and percussion before the track drops. The percussion develops throughout, as the main hook is played in the bass, before the ‘Fire Like This’ vocal sample introduces the hook onto a bit crushed ‘vowel filter’ styled synth. The track opens out in the break with a stuttering and swelling old school rave sound, leading into the peak of the track. Overall the track has an old school flavour with modern production and a smooth arrangement throughout.

The Rural Alberta Advantage Are Blowing Up

24 Feb

The Rural Alberta Advantage are a band I saw yesterday while looking through Hypem.com and instantly was impressed. I checked out their 2008 release Hometowns along with a few songs from their March 1st release, Departures.

I was listening to Hometowns this morning and came across Don’t Haunt This Place. It stood out with its up-beat drum line mixed in with a violin melody. The vocals are also outstanding. You can listen to that one below.

Then today I was watching MTV|Live and The Rural Alberta Advantage were performing. They played a song off their new album and I was immediately sold. I have a live performance of the same song and wait it out for the breakdown after the 2:30 mark.

Free Song Download From Valencia

24 Feb

I really enjoyed the debut album from Valencia when it came out six years ago. This Could Be a Possibility was filled with fast-paced hooky pop punk songs and has been in my constant rotation for a long time. Fast forward six years and Valencia are back with a brand new album.

Dancing With A Ghost was released last October to little fan fair, but it was a solid album through and through. To gain some publicity for the album as well as the cross country tour Valencia is embarking upon, they have just released a free track from Dancing With A Ghost.

You can listen to and download The Way for free below. You can also click on Read More to check out the dates for their tour which states in March.

New Travis Barker Clipse Video

22 Feb

As Travis Barker promised, a brand new video has emerged for his song Come N Get It from the Let The Drummer Get Wicked Mixtape. We saw the behind the scenes video for this one a couple days ago and now the final version of the video has emerged. This song is done by Clipse and is an absolute banger.

Each song on the album is supposed to be getting some form of music video so we can be assured that Come N Get It has made the final album. I played the song last night with The Conductor on The Rinse and it is for sure one of my favourites on the mixtape.

Sub Focus

20 Feb

I wasn’t blogging back in 09′ but if I was this would have been on my Best Albums of the Year list. This is the first and only studio album from Sub Focus and it will be a hard one to top. The album has a great blend of breakbeat, dubstep, liquid and jump up drum & bass and is a perfect warmup for anyone interested in expanding their musical tastes. Since the album Sub Focus has worked with the likes of Pendulum, Example and Chase & Status and the future looks very bright for this young chap out of the UK. Keep an eye out for future releases on Andy C’s highly acclaimed Ram Records and grab this album from Beatport or your local record store- You will not be disappointed!

19 Feb

If you listen to our weekly radio show on CJAM 99.1 fm (Windsor/Detroit) you would have heard us rinsing this older gem from Reflekt a few weeks back. This track was on the soundtrack to the 2005 film ‘It’s All Gone Pete Tong’ and became a massive hit in Europe. If you don’t have it already then you need to grab the original as well as Adam K & Soha’s remix. These are straight up party starters for your Saturday night shenanigans. And be sure to tune in to The Rinse Monday nights from 10:30-Midnight for exclusive interviews, releases and mixes!

Brand New Chiddy Bang Track – Baby Roulette

17 Feb

Chiddy Bang just dropped another tune that has been but from The Swelly Express due out later this year. Xaphoon tweeted a while back that he had over 40 beats ready for this album so new tracks should be emerging almost daily.

This one has an 8-bit beat to it which I know The Conductor will love as he’s been addicted to the N64 lately.  This hook also features Grammy award winners Train. It’s live. Check out Baby Roulette below.

Two Free Washington Square Park Songs

17 Feb

If you don’t already have Washington Square Parks self titled release from last summer, you should click here to pick it up. It is one of the better pop-punk releases from last year and No Medication was easily one of my favourite songs from last year.

Today they just made two brand new tracks available for free download on their bandcamp page. Material Hell and Open-Ended are being offered as Winter 2011 Free Downloads and are probably off their next release or have just hit the cutting room floor.

Check out the two songs below and follow the link to pick these songs up for free. You can’t get better music for a better price.
