Go Buy: Feed Me- Escape From Electric Mountain EP [Mau5trap]

6 Feb

Feed Me is back with another wild aural adventure full of dubstep, electro, dnb, house and his signature next level touch.

Just a week after label mate Moguai dropped Mpire, Feed Me stepped up to release another highly touted EP on Mau5trap. The 6 track EP is a full on journey and the diversity is easy to see with tracks like Relocation vs. One Click Head Shot. Both are easily my favourite tracks but so completely different and unique.

This is an album that I would classify as ‘forward thinking’ and is definitely worth the ‘Go Buy’ status.

Switch Fusion- Oceans (Original Mix)

31 Jan

Switch Fusion show us what Liquid Drum N Bass should sound like- pure bliss.

Right from the start this had me in a constant state of euphoria. And just when you thought the soothing sounds of the ocean and the building melody were going to put you to sleep, they drop some BASS in the mix to round this one out.

Grab this one fo’ FREE and check out more from the 18 year old on Soundcloud.

Utah Saints vs. Drumsound & Bassline Smith- What Can You Do For Me * Preview

13 Jan

Drumsound & Bassline Smith have literally tortured us for a year with their remix of Utah Saints- ‘What Can You Do For Me’.

Unfortunately they didn’t use traditional methods of torture like tying us to a chair and dripping a single drop of water on our foreheads every minute. Instead they resorted to new school methods of releasing the track as a preview, littered with the voice of Annie Mac throughout it.

If you’re a sucker for punishment, and a fan of top notch drum & bass, give these two previews a listen and mark February 26th on your calendar for the release of ‘What Can You Do For Me’ (on Ministry of Sound) and January 29th for ‘Who Knows’ (on Digital Soundboy Recordings).

And catch up with these guys via Soundcloud

Best Of 2011: Odds & Ends

4 Jan

Wrapping up the best tracks of 2011 hasn’t been easy. Over the past 12 months thousands of tracks were released in varying styles and with the popularity of genre blending, categorizing them has been a daunting task.

After revealing our Best Of’s Trance, Dubstep, House, Prog House, Electro, Tech House & Mashups we decided to highlight some of the tracks that just missed the cut.

For the sake of this ‘Best Of’ series and my sanity, we have picked our favourite tracks of 2011 based on genres categorized by Beatport. With that being said, our picks are purely based on personal taste and they give remixes the same weight as an original track.

Go Buy: Blu Mar Ten- Love Is The Devil

16 Nov

To put it simply, Blu Mar Ten’s 5th studio album is a masterpiece. ‘Love is the Devil’ was released on the self titled Blu Mar Ten imprint and showcases the trio’s progression and growth over their successful career which has spanned well over 15 years.

The album starts out with the hypnotic ‘Into The Light’ featuring Airwalker and moves into an onslaught of highly melodic liquid drum n bass. ‘Love Is the Devil’ showcases some unbelievable vocalists including Jenni Potts, Rochelle Parker and one of my favorites- Kirsty Hawkshaw.

If you are a DnB fan or not this album is for everyone. Check out my picks for standout tracks and grab ‘Love Is The Devil’ on vinyl, cd or digitally at www.blumarten.com

ConRank Next Step FREE EP

11 Jul

I think it is apparent that The Conductor is the major contributor of electronic music for Ambassador Beats, but every once in a while I’ll find something that I really like and want to share, even if I know little to nothing about it.

This was the case with the Dada Life post and now once again with this ConRank post. I remember The Conductor playing a ConRank song on The Rinse once and when I saw this new Next Step EP I thought I’d give it a chance.

Well the 4 track Next Step EP blew me away. With drumstep making waves, I think this EP is the perfect introduction to the genre for those who have not been exposed to it.

It has the very distinct drumstep rhythmic lines, but isn’t too hard or overbearing that would scare the occasional listener away. Check out the EP below and download it free.

Save The World Remixes

20 Jun

Swedish House Mafia are currently holding down a residency in Ibiza for the summer and there is no doubt in my mind that even these guys are sick of hearing this track. The original ‘Save The World’ officially came out a few weeks ago and instantly gained international attention and mass appeal. It’s been played so many times on my Itunes that my girlfriend has literally threatened to punch me square in the face if she hears it one more time.

Luckily for us we have had guys like David Berrie and Alesso to help us save face and to keep this song alive and today I am happy to pass on 2 MORE remixes to rekindle your love, or possibly hatred.

#1: Cazzette diverts from the house music to deliver a much needed dubstep treatment. These guys should be on your radar as they are on the At Night Management roster alongside Avicii and Tom Hangs and deliver a unique blend of electro/house/dubstep… oh and there Swedish if that means anything.

Swedish House Mafia- Save The World (Cazzette DubbySteppy Bootleg)

#2: Next up is a harder DnB remix from Futurebound & Metrik that keeps the same melodic flow of the original only cranked up a few notches and BPM.

Jessie J- Nobody’s Perfect (Netsky Remix)

6 May

Jessie J is killing it over in the UK with her debut album “Who Are You” sitting at the top of the charts. Unfortunately due to North America lagging when it comes to quality international releases you are probably just hearing this now. ‘Nobody’s Perfect’ is currently ranked 18th in the country for top singles and DnB producer Netsky went and upped the ante. Grab this track and become enlightened on the hottest new female act to emerge from across the pond.

2 May

I can’t believe I let this one get past me, but big shout out to KDotDuke for sharing this with me. In this video, Travis Barker hits the studio to record his remix of Tinie Tempah’s Simply Unstoppable track. He attacks this song on an enormous drum kit and takes the track to a whole new level.
